What's going on in My Creative Life 2/08/2010

There has been a lot in my life in the past weeks, here is the recap:

Business:
One of my resolutions for 2010 is to re-launch my SB business. I am getting there!!!
- Created pages for Memory Works, Simple Memories and Creative Designs by Luisa.
- Working on my classes schedule.
- Advertising is my next project.

CSDivas:
- DT's had been selected (see yesterdays post to see the talented ladies).
- We are preparing our first online crop for February 20th (save the date!!!)
- Launch of Project 12 is great. Got my LO done, only need to take a photo.
- Altered challenge is up and running...

Blog/PC/Internet:
- Learned a lot in the past week: Created Pages, added some widgets and still learning.
- Decided to declutter my PC files... This is a work in process, my goal is to organize my SB Business files, SB files first, then my home files, then my Digital Files... (will be a future post)
- Photos are being uploaded to Picasa Web Albums. I did not upload for almost 5 months and now I have tons of photos to upload. This will be a 2-3 week job. (future post in process).
- My blog posts schedule is getting better...

Personal:
- We had tamales on 2/02 to celebrate the CANDELARIA DAY (Mexican Tradition) and they were delicious. Of course we also had friend beans and hot chocolate... yummy!!!
- Jazmin is back to school, finally... After almost 2 months of vacations...
- Weekly Menu Planning - I read about this long time ago and did not try it. I finally decided to give it a go... and the results are awesome. This week menu plan is my second week doing it and I am very happy... It not only saves you time, but also money... (I will share my form on another post).

Scrapbooking/Creating:
- I almost finish a LO about my favorite things... It has take me hours (4 so far...) and I am loving the result so far... (check Fridays post)
- My altered journal is going great! Need to do some pages to catch up and got lots of ideas to play with...

That's it... Busy, busy but happy, happy!!!

Enjoy Life and Be Happy... and scrapbook about it!!!

What's happening at CSDivas?

CSDivas First Design Team Reveal!!!

Admin Divas: Theresa, She-She, Toccara and Luisa (myself), finally choose our first CSDivas Design Team.
We got plenty of applications from very talented and creative crafters to join the team. Unfortunately we only had 4 spots!

Let me introduce you to the 4 DT Divas selected and their bios:

LORI DIANNI
Hi, my name is Lori and I live in southern Maine with my husband of 25 years who does his best to understand my obsession with scrapping. I also have two grown daughters, Valerie and Jaclyn and an adopted son, Zachery who is 11. I've been scrapping for 12 years and enjoy it immensely! This hobby has given me the opportunity to develop friendships both online and in my community as well as developing my skills as an artist. I've been published twice by Memory Makers magazine in 2008 and have won Second Place in two categories at Creating Keepsakes Convention. I've also won several contests over the years through my local scrapbook store. As I developed my skills as a scrapbooker, I also discovered new friends on line and found support and advice along the way. Last February I started a blog, A Scrap Mom's Musings which has grown to 90 followers! I blog about my everyday life, post tutorials of things I feel my followers would enjoy viewing (they come from You Tube and are not my own as I don't have a video camera!); as well as step-by-step tutorials of paper crafts I've created; and share my knowledge of the craft in hopes of inspiring others. I find inspiration all around me--from the colors of clothes, textures of nature, interior design, and of course, the many talented scrappers on line. Besides creating layouts, I also create altered items and other paper crafts. My other hobbies include photography, reading, cooking, writing, crafting and collecting vintage items for my home. Other interests include camping, hiking, kayaking (I love the outdoors during the warmer seasons), visiting museums, going to the beach, watching old movies, and drinking coffee! I hope I will inspire you in some way over the next several months. I am looking forward to working with these wonderful and talented ladies.

ALECIA HARPER
Hi I am Alecia. I'm a work-at-home, stay-at-home mom of two in Sarasota, FL. I'm a Tar Heel born, and a Tar Heel bred (and when I die I'll be a Tar Heel dead, as the song goes). A former DJ, I'm into grassroots radio and alternative music. I'm a docent at the Ringling Museum of Art also. And I love to scrapbook! Looking forward to sharing scrappy ideas and designs with you.

ANN LETH
Hi, I am Ann from Iowa. I am a SAHM of 3 adorable children- son Griffin almost 12 (Feb. 17) and twin girls Gretchen and Gillian almost 9 (Feb. 14). I have been married to my wonderful husband James for 15 1/2 years. I love scrapbooking, although I just discovered it in its present form, 2 1/2 years ago. I say in its present form because I have always had some sort of gathering of newspaper clippings, postcards and such to document things in my life. Of course they were glued or taped "old school" and not anything like the papers and embellishments we use today! I had a job as a layout artist in the early 1990's where we did ads by hand with grid paper and layout tape. (for JC Penney's district ad office). It is funny because, 2 1/2 years ago I was at my Christian mom's group and they did a scrapbooking devotional project and I was so overwhelmed by all they were doing that I almost quit. Someone took me a side and showed me basics and I was hooked and the rest is history. I love 12 x 12 layouts and using sketches. I am also inspired by others. I am creating my style still and it is leaning towards shabby chic but I can do a clean and simple page in a heartbeat. I just love creating! I am trying to learn all the techniques I can and work more on mini-albums and altered items. There is so much fun to be had in this great hobby of papercrafting. Besides paper crafts, I enjoy genealogy and have part of my family traced back to the revolutionary war. I also have helped many people by doing their own family trees and writing books for them. I love to travel with my family and watch movies. I am also active with our church and 4H, and girl scouts. Blog: http://www.annlenth.blogspot.com/ Scraps of Time

LORA BUEHRIG
Hello! I am Lora and I love to make things. I am a working mom happily married to a man who is great and supports my addictions. We have 3 beautiful children who are little characters. I have been a crafty girl since I was little. I can vividly remember always coloring, writing and creating things which has led up to this scrapping obsession. I am always making things and love to help people who just might need a little push.My latest obsession is copic markers and I am sure the list goes on. I dabble in jewelry making, stamping, photography, crosstitching, card making, and tons of other little fun things.I hope to inspire you to make things. toodles, Lora

We Welcome them to the Team and can't wait to see what challenges and ideas they will bring for all Divas!!!

Resourceful Sunday - The Font Thing!

Today I want to share one of the free software that are available!  The Font Thing...
I had heard about it for a while but never really took the time to try it...
Well 2 weeks ago I finally did and I am so happy I decided to do it.  It is a wonderful software and it is free!

The software, once installed in  your PC, gathers all your fonts and organize them in a so friendly and visual way that is a snap to see the fonts and an example of how it looks!  I deleted the  ones I did not like or use in less then 15 minutes...  My daughters really like typing in the Sample Bar, their name to see how it looks with the diiferent fonts available...

Its really a great software!  I am not affiliated in any way with the developers, but considering I got this awesome software for free, I thought it will be nice to share with my friends and help spread the word about the software.
Here is an image of how the screen looks:

And here is the link to the site were I downloaded.  I choosed the first option...

Hi, These are the entries for my Recipe Challenges for CSDivas Blog Hop:

THE WINNER: Kathy Williams:
Her color combo is so classic, love how the red color revamps the LO. Great Lo Kathy!!!

This one is from Angela Holt. The distress effect reall calls my attention. Love the black and white photos matted with light blue paper. Grat Job!

This one is from PaperDiva... This layout makes me like color green (not really one of my fave ones). Love how she overlapped pattern paper blocks to showcase the photo. Great job!
